Foul fungi, or scrumptious 'shrooms?

You be the judge...

Monday 25 September 2000

We were rather surprised to learn that north-east Florida is a prime spot for fungi, but then discovered that the damp and warmth of autumn is of course an ideal environment - particularly in our own garden.

I took some pictures of a typical haul, just from our garden area around the house; I am intrigued by the potential edibility of these specimens - seems a pity to waste all that potential food - so if anyone fancies themselves as a mushroom expert, I would welcome advice on which, if any, of these are indeed edible.

By the way, you'd better appreciate these pictures - they were paid for in blood to the swarms of mosquitoes that also flourish in wet warm conditions...
